Happy (belated) 5th birthday to the Sleeper Hit

My post earlier about meeting Dave Eggers was the 750th entry of this blog, which I began five years ago last month. I started the Sleeper Hit first as a Live Journal in January 2008, a couple weeks after I graduated from college and started my first job as a reporter for SNP in Columbus. A couple years later, I imported all my posts into this WordPress site and never looked back (RIP, Live Journal site).

I’ve written a year in review every year (except 2011 — for shame!) and posted photos from countless vacations and personal milestones. This blog was a huge source of comfort to me when I first moved to Chicago, knew hardly anyone, had no job, and felt scared over what I’d done for the first time. It was a way to reach out to the people I missed most, and the supportive comments I got during those first few weeks kept me encouraged and motivated.

This blog has seen me through break-ups, career changes, at least a few stages of grief, and much more. It may not be as frequently updated as it was when I lived in Columbus, but I still very much enjoy sharing what I’m up to with all of you.

Thanks for reading!
